Nursing
At Woodlands School we have a highly skilled team of specialist paediatric nurses and health care assistants, working as part of the NHS Community Children's Nursing Team.
The team has specialist knowledge of: epilepsy, enteral feeding, tracheostomies and many more complex conditions. They are available throughout the school day to monitor and meet the complex health needs of all the pupils.
They provide training and support for the staff working with the children across the school to enable them to safely meet the pupils' care needs during the school day. The team also supports the wide range of off-site activities, available for pupils, to enhance their educational experience.
The team liaises with other health services, including:
- The other staff in the Community Children's Nursing Team.
- Paediatricians and Therapists who visit the school.
- Dieticians, Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists.
- Opthalmists and Dentists.
Dr Forbes, who is based at the Child Development Centre, holds a regular clinic here at Woodlands to see her patients.
Dr Selby who is a specialist consultant also holds regular clinics in school.
The team is always available to speak with parents or carers to discuss all aspects of pupils' health needs.
Call the main school number 01752 300101 or ask to see them when you are in school.
