Helen Phelps-Starbuck

14 July 2016 (by admin)

We are sad to report that Helen has passed away, she will be missed by all at Woodlands.

Dear Parents, Carers and Friends of Woodlands, I’m afraid I have sad news to share with you. Helen Phelps Starbuck, our incredible Student Advocate, has passed away due to complications following surgery. Helen had been involved with Woodlands for many years, first as a student and then as an employee. Helen’s work included supporting pupil voice and encouraging advocacy but she participated in so much more. Woodlands will not be the same without her. We have explained to our pupils what has happened and have provided support to them individually where this has been necessary. I have been very touched by the lovely things pupils have communicated to me about Helen; they have told me that she was hugely liked, well respected and deeply appreciated by those who knew her or had the chance to benefit from her skills. As yet, we do not know the details of any funeral arrangements, but we will communicate these as soon as we hear. I know that many of you will want to share in celebrating Helen’s life and her many achievements. If you would like to contribute to our memory board in school, situated in the entrance area, please email or send in your thoughts and we will display them for you. Everything we create and collect will be shared with Helen’s family. I believe it is really important for them to know just how much she meant to us and how many people’s hearts she captured. With warm wishes, Andrea
