School closed on Tuesday 5th July

29 June 2016 (by admin)

Due to industrial action in the form of a strike on Tuesday 5th July 2016 Woodlands school is closed to pupils.

Please see letter from the Headteacher. Dear Parents and Carers NUT Strike Action – Tuesday 5th July I am sure you will be aware from media reports and our website that members of the NUT are taking strike action on Tuesday 5th July. This action is in support of their campaign to increase funding to schools and education, guarantee terms and conditions in all types of schools and to resume negotiations on teacher contracts, to allow work load to be addressed. This affects both teaching and support staff in the school. Due to current staffing pressures and given the potential number of teaching staff who may choose to strike, the Senior Leadership Team have undertaken a risk assessment which has shown that it would be impossible for us to ensure the health, safety and welfare of all our pupils. Therefore, I am sorry to inform you that school will be closed on - Tuesday, 5th July 2016. Although I’ve tried to give you as much notice as possible, I do realise the inconvenience this may cause and for this I apologise. I hope there is a swift resolution to the dispute. School will be open as usual on Wednesday 6th July. Yours sincerely Andrea Hemmens Headteacher
