Our staff team includes teachers, teaching assistants, nurses, administrators, and our newly appointed Parent Support Adviser. Twenty-four hour nursing cover is provided at Woodlands. Additionally, the Health Authority provides Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists to work, based in the school, with our pupils when appropriate. Staff from school work closely with therapists to get the best outcome for individual pupils.
STAFF CODE OF CONDUCT
Woodlands School, in conjunction with staff teams, has developed a Staff Code of Conduct, detailing behaviour that is expected, both of staff and management. This is found at the back of this handbook. Please read and ensure your own behaviour reflects those detailed within it.
STAFF DEVELOPMENT
Staff attend five training days per year (pro rata) to extend their knowledge, skills and expertise in order to help the school meet its aims. In addition, teachers attend training on Tuesday evenings for 1 hour, weekly. Opportunities for supporting an individual's personal professional development are laid out in the Staff Development and Performance Management Policy. Staff wishing to attend courses must first complete a training application form, giving reasons why the training will benefit them and the school. These forms are reviewed by the Senior Leadership Team each week and must be agreed before processing. All staff attending courses must carefully consider how they will use the information or skills gained and how this will support the work of Woodlands in the long and short term.
